Description
Géza Gorka’s ceramic vase is an excellent example of Hungarian mid-century modern ceramic art. Hand-shaped and painted, it lends a unique character to any interior.
Géza Gorka (1894–1971) was one of Hungary’s most influential ceramic artists of the 20th century and a pioneer of modern Hungarian studio pottery. His work is distinguished by organic shapes, richly textured glazes, and a harmonious blend of folk art traditions with modernist influences. Working primarily in his Gödöllő-based studio, Gorka created vases, bowls, and sculptural pieces that are now considered museum-quality and hold a central place in Hungarian ceramic history. His artistic legacy continues through his son, Lívia Gorka, who also became a celebrated ceramicist.
