Description
Jaroslav Smidek (1923–2005) was a Czech designer and architect who became known for his commitment to mid-century modern, especially the Brussels style. His Montisektor furniture line, designed in 1956, brought forward innovations in prefabricated furniture production. In the 1960s, Smidek created strong yet clean-lined armchairs for the Jitona and later TON factories, these pieces reflect the harmony of Scandinavian and Eastern European design and are highly sought after today.
