New Turkish Tile Painting Workshop at Fabrika with Derya Ocak
Paint your own Turkish tile with traditional Turkish çini paints and tiles from Kütahya,
All materials will be provided and we will also cover the glazing and firing process.
NO EXPERİENCE IS NEEDED.
Important thing to know: After painting the tiles, they need to be glazed and go to the ceramic studio for the firing/ kiln process. This process usually takes time and can be completed according to the schedule of the ceramic studio which I cooperate with.
This process might take usually 2-4 weeks. Only after this you can get your final tile (glazed and fired).
What to expect from the workshop:
• Introduction to the Turkish Tiles / Cini art
• Warming up on the paper with the brush (practicing how to use the brush with basic forms)
• Transferring the selected motif to the tile
• Outlining the motif with black çini ink from Türkiye (called “tahrir” process)
• Painting the motif with the çini paints from Türkiye.
• Glazing and firing will be completed separately in a ceramic studio.
